They're not saying they're not happy with it. That would be crazy, why else release it as your new single? They're (jokingly) apologising for the possibility that some people may find it not what they expected. Which, like it being "weird", isn't even necessarily a bad thing (au contraire, I would say).tim writes on 13 Mar 2010:
It sucks. SOunds like bad Ween but with no point and it takes forever to get there. Also: annoying.Kevin writes on 16 Mar 2010:
In looking around the rest of your site, I commend you for a lovely looking blog, with some interesting, diverse content, but I can't let you off the hook for this piece. While, it appears to be a blatant attempt to feature this extremely blogged-about track in a new light, I would expect more than this yellow journalism from someone who is apparently the editor of 3 magazines. Did you read the whole Spinner article? This article, specifically the quote you use, portrays something completely different than what the full interview reveals. Job summed it up in so many words, but your obvious lack of research, and the resulting lack of context, is disheartening.Gijs writes on 16 Mar 2010:
Kevin & Job. What can I say: sorry? ;-)Kevin writes on 16 Mar 2010:
I'm sorry too. Haha. Reading it back now, I suppose it was a bit heavy handed of me. I think I'm just getting a bit jaded by the online media community lately. I've also been watching a lot Kubrick and Kaufman films lately, so I'm in a bit of a misanthropic quagmire. Maybe some Monty Python will put some Absurdist pep back in my step.
