Deze week album-tips voor onder je kerstboom. Soulvolle folkjazz. Wellicht is dat nog de beste omschrijving van de muziek van Los Angeles cat Carlos Nino en zijn posse muzikanten. Build an Ark maakt jazz als Coltrane, Pharoah Sanders en Sun Ra. Ook op dit nieuwe album Love part 1 is genoeg sfeervolle muziek te vinden, met gevoel voor detail.

Dit is zo’n album dat je tijdens het kerstdiner opzet, met lekker veel violen, dwarsfluiten en meer dan relaxte zang. Hieronder heb ik twee prachtige tracks voor je geselecteerd, Sunflowers in My Garden en How Do We End All This Madness. Beluister het even, dan begrijp je wat ik bedoel, en waarom deze formatie in mijn top tien staat. Het album haal je o.a. bij Rush Hour.

Is Diddy’s Twitter Making Kanye’s Blog Irrelevant? Techcrunch vraagt zich deze maand terecht af hoe het eigenlijk met bloggers gaat, nu steeds meer mensen de Twitter tweets en Facebook status updates ontdekken. NYMag begint zich ook al zorgen te maken, en vraagt zich af of mensen Kanye’s blog nog wel checken, nu Diddy meerdere keren per dag loopt te tweeten over zijn leven. Ook ik volg Diddy, en betrap mezelf erop Ye’s blog steeds meer links te laten liggen.

Hard Knock Life Een geniale documentaire over producer Mark The 45 King, het brein achter Hard Knock Life. Jay-Z hoorde de track voor het eerst tijdens een dj-set van Kid Capri. Hij nam het nummer in 85 minuten op en brak er daarna wereldwijd mee door. Mooi verhaal van een fascinerende producer.
