Shorties: DJ Lefto, Floating Points, Gaslamp Killer

Shorties, let’s go! Al eerder schreef ik over (Sa-Ra’s) Shafiq Husayn. Nu heeft de nog altijd infamous DJ Lefto ter gelegenheid van deze release de En’ A Free Ka Album Sampler gemixt, die je na de jump beluistert. Maar ook Gaslamp Killer en Floating Points komen met nieuwe muziek, die je trouwens - en dat is nieuw - gewoon bij Crazy Birds kunt luisteren. Waarom? Omdat dat veel makkelijker is!

DJ Lefto is druk bezig met mixtapes. Gelukkig maar, want ook deze En’ A Free Ka Album Sampler mag er weer wezen. Zo kan je gelijk beluisteren of je het album wat vindt.

Via Nutriot bereikte mij het bericht dat Floating Points in het kader van het Bei Bei Beauty and The Beats project ook al met fijne dingen bezig is. Hij doet het samen met Georgia Anne Meldrow. Laatstgenoemde zangeres vind ik niet altijd even sterk, maar is nu prima te pruimen.

Minimal Wave Special

Minimal Wave Special Minimal Wave is een avant garde muzikaal genre om dit jaar in de gaten te houden. Denk aan analoge synthesizers en drum machines uit de jaren '70, met minimale muzikale structuren. Artiesten uit de scene hielden elkaar via mail op de hoogte van nieuwe producties. Althans, als ze klaar waren met het bestuderen van niet onbelangrijke bewegingen als futurisme en constructivisme.

Moby (interview) Soms klikt het met iemand, soms ook niet. Met Moby kon ik het uitermate goed vinden. Hoewel de lokatie, namelijk het Amstel Hotel, uiteindelijk redelijk bizar te noemen was.
