Digital Playground

Crazy Birds started out as a digital business card for Amsterdam based entrepreneur Gijs van der Togt, trained as an urban sociologist and experienced in media, concept development and (copy) writing. After working for several media companies, the urge to develop something new emerged. Crazy Birds, a daily updated digital playground for a savvy audience was born. Nowadays fuelled with help from contributors in media, music, fashion and art.

There’s no good content without smart partnerships. For us, collaboration is crucial. Therefore, we are always on the look out for promising artists creating new, exciting things. Crazy Birds is a platform for advertising agencies, media companies, record companies and ofcourse brands to highlight their products. Do mind we only curate good things. Meet Mayer Hawthorne

When we found out promising soul artist Mayer Hawthorne was in town, we got excited and decided to do a short film about him with help from our friends at Mamamess and Rush Hour.

We strongly believe in content-driven short films, made from the heart. Because we discovered this artist in an early stage, the amount of attention from various print magazines and internet-media was overwhelming.

Zoals je weet, komen er niet alleen maar ingewikkelde beats uit mijn Harman Kardon speakers. Zo houd ik op z’n tijd ook van een indiepop-act zoals The Raveonettes. Onlangs bracht dit Deense duo het album In And Out of Control uit, op Vice. Met daarop dromerige tracks als Last Chance en Suicide. Het is een beetje kitsch, en misschien is dat met al die complexe beats op z’n tijd wel prettig. Anway, ik geef een aantal exemplaren weg. Reageer hieronder als je dit album ziet zitten.

Let’s leave it all behind

Let’s leave it all behind Let's leave it all behind. Terwijl Rich Medina (in Obama shirt) bij de buren met een trotse glimlach op zijn gezicht rondloopt, probeer ik bij te komen van een lange nacht CNN. Met een presentator die Wolf heet, en holografische schema's, touchscreens en analytici waar de NOS alleen maar van kan dromen. Eigenlijk wist CNN het om 02.00 uur al, toen Pennsylvania voor Obama was. Het is een grauwe dag, en eigenlijk past dat niet bij wat er vannacht gebeurd is. Cheesy of niet - bij verandering en hoop had ik een zonnige dag verwacht.

Grote Prijs Final

Grote Prijs Final Op 12 december zijn de finales van de Grote Prijs van Nederland in de categorieën dance, hiphop, rock alternative en singer/songwriter. Ook dit jaar zijn redelijk hilarische filmpjes ter introductie van de deelnemers gemaakt, waarin ze elkaar ook nog eens becommentariëren. Maar goed, er kunnen er maar vier de winnaars zijn.
