Merijn Hos aka Bfree is een illustrator, kunstenaar uit Utrecht die hard op weg is om de wereld te veroveren. Mr. Bfree vertelde mij onlangs dat hij binnenkort naar New York gevlogen wordt voor een feestje van LeSportsac, omdat er een speciale Bfree collectie verschijnt. Fashion guru Stella Mcartney ontwierp al eerder tassen voor het merk. Kind of a big deal, isn’t it? Zijn werk is inmiddels te groot voor Nederland. 

Bfree voor LeSportsac

Kunst van Bfree wordt gekenmerkt door vreemde figuren met lange armen, high heels en een te grote hairdo, maar ook psychedelische landschappen. Zijn werk is soms een antwoord op gebeurtenissen in de maatschappij maar verwijst ook naar menselijke interactie: vriendschap, loyaliteit en escapisme zijn veelvuldig voorkomende thema’s. Deze maand is hij gevraagd om een tentoonstelling in het Centraal Museum in Utrecht samen te stellen. Op 26 oktober kan je daar kunst vinden van ondermeer Tiquestar en Stickit. Van 12.00 tot 17.00. De toegang is gratis, dus neem je moeder mee.

I want my MTV Alsof de site al jaren op het web staat. MTV lanceert deze week MTV Music, een website met alleen maar clips. I want my MTV! En dat is best wel prettig, aangezien ik op het mtv televisiekanaal blonde bimbo’s over elkaar heen zie vallen en vreemde wezens met namen als Tila Tequila en Perez Hilton. Economische crisis, videoclips, straks wordt je locale coke dealer ook weer hip. Back to the eighties, baby! Beter check je na de jump een aantal MTV classics.
